Transfer News Today: Olise Release Clause, Schade, Maza and Alex Scott

Transfer news today is all about the January 2027 window, because the summer window has closed and no major deal was confirmed on October 3. The biggest stories are Michael Olise’s reported demand for a release clause at Bayern Munich, Liverpool’s interest in Kevin Schade, Arsenal and Tottenham scouting Ibrahim Maza, and Chelsea’s continued interest in Alex Scott. None of these are done deals, so treat them as reports.

Transfer News Today: Olise Wants a Release Clause at Bayern

Michael Olise, 24, is under contract at Bayern Munich until June 2029, and his current deal has no release clause. According to Bild and Sport Bild, Bayern want to extend his contract to 2032 and make him one of their top earners, alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala. Reports put his possible salary at around €25 million a year.

The sticking point is the clause. Olise’s camp is reported to want one in any new contract, and a figure above €200 million is described as realistic. Bild puts the figure at around £170 million. Bayern rarely agree to exit clauses, so the talks are expected to be tricky. Formal talks are reported to start after the current international break.

This follows a summer in which Olise was linked with Real Madrid and Liverpool. Bayern refused to sell, and Real Madrid denied any contact with the player. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl rejected claims that Olise asked to leave. Olise scored for France against Italy on Friday, as we covered in our football news today round-up.

Liverpool Favourites for Brentford’s Kevin Schade

TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool are among the favourites to sign Brentford winger Kevin Schade in January. The 24-year-old Germany international has scored three goals in Brentford’s first five league games this season. His contract has around 18 months left, and Brentford are reported to value him at between £42 million and £51 million. Arsenal are also said to be interested.

Arsenal and Tottenham Step Up Interest in Ibrahim Maza

Arsenal and Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza, according to TEAMtalk. Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa are also reported to be monitoring the 20-year-old Algeria international, who joined Leverkusen from Hertha Berlin in 2025.

For now this is scouting, not a transfer race. No formal approach has been reported, and Maza’s Leverkusen contract runs until 2030, which strengthens the German club’s hand. Transfermarkt values him at about £38 million, but Leverkusen are expected to ask for much more. Supporters voted Maza their Player of the Season for 2025-26.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal Still Watching Alex Scott

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott remains a top target. Chelsea had a bid of around £64 million rejected in the summer. BBC Sport reports that Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal could all be suitors in 2027, but Bournemouth do not want to sell Scott, Rayan or Eli Junior Kroupi in January. CaughtOffside adds that Chelsea are also considering Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton for their midfield. For earlier rumours, read our January 2027 window rumours article.
