After winning the toss and batting first, Washington Freedom got off to a brisk start. Opener Mitchell Owen looked in excellent touch, smashing 39 runs off just 20 balls, including three fours and three sixes. His attacking approach gave Freedom the early momentum before he was dismissed by Ghulam Mudassar.

Captain Steven Smith endured a disappointing outing, managing only 3 runs from 8 deliveries before falling to express pacer Haris Rauf.

Even after both openers departed, the momentum never slowed.

Matthew Short and Aaron Hardie Finish the Job

Following the explosive opening partnership, captain Matthew Short played the perfect anchor’s role. He remained unbeaten on 34 from 26 balls, rotating the strike while ensuring there were no unnecessary risks.

The finishing touches were provided by Aaron Hardie, who attacked from the moment he arrived at the crease. Hardie smashed an unbeaten 42 off just 22 balls, including six fours and one six, finishing the chase in emphatic fashion.

San Francisco reached 193/2 in only 15.1 overs, completing the chase with 29 balls remaining and underlining the strength of their batting lineup.

Washington Bowlers Have No Answers

Washington Freedom’s bowling attack endured a difficult evening as none of their frontline bowlers managed to control the scoring.

Marco Jansen picked up the wicket of Finn Allen but conceded 40 runs in his three overs.

Nikhil Chaudhary impressed with 1 wicket for 29 runs, dismissing Lhuan-dre Pretorius, but the damage had already been done.
