Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its impressive box office run, maintaining strong momentum even in its second week. The film, which stars Rishab Shetty, Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah, has now collected an estimated ₹485.40 crore domestically and ₹674.5 crore worldwide, inching closer to the coveted ₹500 crore mark in India.

The film witnessed a solid second weekend, earning around ₹78.75 crore in just two days. However, collections dropped during the weekdays, with Kantara: Chapter 1 earning ₹13.35 crore on Monday, ₹10.5 crore on Wednesday, and ₹9 crore on Thursday. Despite this dip, the film’s performance remains steady, indicating strong audience hold in several regions.

In Karnataka, Hombale Films — the production house behind the movie — managed to increase average ticket prices to ₹308 after legally challenging the ₹200 cap imposed by the state government. This move alone reportedly added around ₹55 crore to the film’s box office revenue within the first 12 days.

Kantara:

Chapter 1 has now surpassed several major releases including Saiyaara, Coolie, War 2, and Lokah Chapter 1, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 2025. The only title ahead of it is Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, which has collected ₹601.54 crore in India and ₹807.91 crore globally.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara:

Chapter 1 serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. Set in pre-colonial Karnataka, the mythological action drama explores the origins of Daiva (Bhuta Kola) worship, focusing on the deep spiritual connection between man, nature, and divine power.

The film has received widespread acclaim for its visuals, cinematography, and storytelling rooted in Indian folklore. Celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Ram Gopal Varma, Mahesh Babu, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have praised the movie for its craftsmanship and cultural depth.

With strong word of mouth, powerful performances, and consistent box office growth, Kantara: Chapter 1 stands as one of the biggest success stories of the year. As the film inches closer to the ₹500 crore domestic milestone, all eyes are now on whether it can surpass Chhaava and emerge as the top-grossing Indian film of 2025?
