Ashleigh Gardner and Bess Heath Help Trent Rockets Women Post 142

Trent Rockets Women suffered an early setback when wicketkeeper Beth Mooney was dismissed for a golden duck by Marizanne Kapp on just the second ball of the innings. The experienced South African pacer struck again to remove Sophia Dunkley, who had looked dangerous during her quick 23 off 15 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six.

Despite the early wickets, Sophie Luff steadied the innings with a useful 24 off 19 balls, including four boundaries, before she too became Kapp’s third victim. Captain Ashleigh Gardner then took charge with an aggressive innings of 34 runs from just 22 balls, smashing five fours to keep the scoreboard moving.

London Spirit struck back through captain Charlie Dean, who removed both Gardner and Georgia Adams (5), slowing Trent Rockets’ momentum during the middle phase of the innings.

In the closing stages, Bess Heath played an excellent unbeaten knock of 30 from 19 balls, while Georgia Elwiss contributed 13 runs from 15 balls before retiring out in an attempt to accelerate the scoring. Kim Garth remained unbeaten on 4 as Trent Rockets Women finished on 142/7, setting London Spirit Women a competitive target.

Marizanne Kapp was undoubtedly the standout bowler, returning exceptional figures of 3 wickets for just 12 runs from 20 balls. Charlie Dean also impressed with 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Charis Pavely chipped in with one wicket.

Grace Harris Provides the Perfect Start

Chasing 143, London Spirit Women came out with positive intent. Grace Harris dominated the powerplay, smashing 37 runs from only 20 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Her aggressive approach ensured London Spirit stayed ahead of the required rate from the beginning.

Wicketkeeper Amy Jones supported her well with 21 off 19 balls, adding valuable runs before falling to Georgia Elwiss. Harris was later dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner after giving her side a flying start.

The chase remained well balanced as Marie Kelly anchored the innings brilliantly. She scored 39 runs from 26 deliveries, striking three fours and a six while rotating the strike effectively.

Nadine de Klerk Finishes the Job in Style

The match briefly swung back in Trent Rockets’ favour after the wickets of Marizanne Kapp (2) and Sterre Kalis (0). However, Nadine de Klerk produced a match-winning innings under pressure.

The South African all-rounder remained unbeaten on 41 from just 22 balls, smashing two boundaries and three sixes in a superb finishing display. Her aggressive stroke play ensured London Spirit never lost control of the chase.

Trent Rockets Bowlers Failed to Defend the Total

Captain Ashleigh Gardner was the most successful bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 24 runs from her 20 balls. Samantha Bates, Georgia Elwiss, and Katie Levick took one wicket each, but none of the bowlers could contain Nadine de Klerk during the crucial closing stages.

Kapp’s Brilliant Spell Goes in Vain

Although Marizanne Kapp delivered one of the finest bowling spells of the tournament by taking 3 wickets for just 12 runs, her efforts were not enough to secure victory. Trent Rockets Women fought hard with both bat and ball, but London Spirit Women’s batting depth proved decisive.

The win gives London Spirit Women two valuable points in The Hundred Women’s Competition 2026, strengthening their position in the standings.
