David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen ILT20 : The upcoming season of the International League T20 (ILT20) will feature several big names from international cricket, with South African stars David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen set to make their debut in the UAE-based league.
The clash between the ILT20 and South Africa’s SA20 has been avoided for the upcoming season, allowing more South African players to participate in the UAE competition. The two leagues have traditionally overlapped since the ILT20 was launched in 2023.
The fifth season of the ILT20 will be played from November 22 to December 20 in the UAE, while the SA20 is scheduled to take place from January 17 to February 21.
Miller and Klaasen have both joined the Gulf Giants as pre-auction signings. Their arrival adds significant experience and firepower to the Giants’ batting lineup.
New Zealand batter Finn Allen will also make his ILT20 debut after signing with the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Meanwhile, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will return to the tournament after a three-year absence. He has joined the Dubai Capitals.
The ILT20 announced its pre-auction signings on Tuesday, August 11. More South African players are expected to enter the auction pool, which will be held in Dubai on October 1.
The league organisers believe the arrival of these international stars will add considerable value to the competition. With the scheduling conflict with SA20 removed, South African players have a greater opportunity to participate in the ILT20 before returning home for their domestic league.
The defending champions, Desert Vipers, have retained Andries Gous and Dan Lawrence. Azmatullah Omarzai and fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani will also return to the Gulf Giants setup.

Several established international stars will also continue with their previous franchises. Jason Holder and Sunil Narine remain with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, while Shimron Hetmyer stays with Desert Vipers. Rovman Powell and Mustafizur Rahman will continue with Dubai Capitals.
MI Emirates have retained major names such as Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan and Romario Shepherd, while Sharjah Warriorz will have the services of Sikandar Raza.
The addition of Miller and Klaasen is a major boost for the ILT20, particularly for the Gulf Giants. Both South African batters are proven performers in T20 cricket and can provide explosive middle-order batting.
